Artist Statement
In my paintings, I create worlds where the figure and their environment are connected physically and spiritually. Symbolizing the comfort, safety and divine presence I feel when I experience Mother Nature. Every insect, flower and plant within my paintings symbolizes what the figure is experiencing in that moment. I’ve had butterflies fly alongside me on bike rides and walks. I’ve seen red cardinals when thinking of my great grandmother. I’ve had dragonflies land right next to me and sit with me while I meditate and I’ve seen trees dance with me while I’m dancing for them. It is in these moments where a feeling comes over me that I cannot describe through words, only through visions. These visions are the paintings I create. A captured moment in time where I feel at home.
