Our first retail location opened in 2015 in Columbus, Ohio, with the goal to bring plants into people’s lives. In our shops, we strive to set our customers up for success by guiding them in choosing the right houseplants to fit their lifestyle based on their preferred watering frequency, available window light and aesthetics.

At STUMP we take pride in offering plant care education that aides our customers in making sure their plants thrive & also offering guidance when their plants struggle. We strive to provide a harmonious shopping experience for all of our customers from the moment they walk in our door through offering genuine one-on-one customer service, displaying and maintaining healthy plants, and maintaining a visibly clean & organized shop featuring our curated plant + planter combinations.

Even with ten shop locations in six different cities, we are a still a small business with a small team of around 20 people total. Being a part of a small team doing big things means that we each work hard in pursuit of our goal to bring plants into people’s lives. The hard work pays off when you hear the delight in customers’ voices when they tell you about a plant that you guided them in choosing that’s now thriving under their care.

This position is best suited for those who are personable, attentive, and detail oriented. This job requires some heavy lifting, for example, you will be required to lift planters and plants that may weigh as much as 50 lbs.

Previous customer facing retail experience is required.

Shop Assistant Position Roles & Responsibilities

Job Type: Part-time position (Hours per week may vary)

A successful STUMP Shop Assistant is kind, accommodating, informative, attentive, demonstrates excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

As a STUMP Shop Assistant you are responsible for:

• Engaging with customers and guiding & assisting them in their shopping experience.

• Assisting the shop manager in stocking and merchandising a shop filled with healthy & happy plants, and a curated assortment of planters and plant accessories.

• Helping the shop manager receive, unload and merchandise weekly plant and pottery shipments.

• Keeping the shop clean, organized, and merchandised in a way that reflects a thorough understanding of the STUMP aesthetic.

• Engaging with the rest of the Stump team and staying informed by actively using our internal communication app.

Candidates must have:

1+ Years of retail experience
Saturday & Sunday availability
Effective communication skills
A keen eye for aesthetics, organization, & cleanliness
