How would you describe your Fiber Art & how long have you been in business?
I officially began my business as Spanish Moss Macramé in March of 2021 but I’ve been creating for several years. I'm heavily influenced by my love of nature; by the beautiful low country surroundings I live in or the mountains that I can frequently be found hiking in. That influence shows up in a lot of my weavings and macramé wall hangings… even in key chains! Because that love has lead me to learning beyond just using macramé as a form of artist expression, my business has grown with it, and I'm happily moving into a new and exciting direction with Blooming Fibers.
How/when did you get started?
One of the silver linings of the pandemic for me was that it provided a quiet downtime and the space to reconnect with my creativity. I made my first macramé piece - an air plant hanger - in the spring of 2020 and haven’t really stopped making since.
Who do you create for?
Plant people are definitely my people, but I also meet a lot of customers who are looking for unique decor. There’s something about all the different forms of fiber art that bring some magic and warmth to almost any space and I love bringing that happiness into a home.
What do you envision in the future?
I would love to do more classes! Last year I hosted a beginners class in Forsyth Park and recently also taught a Mindful Makers course at Service Brewing Co (alongside Stump!). Teaching others to create was something I didn’t realize I would love so much! My goal for the future is to do more of that and to grow my business as I also learn new and different fiber techniques.
Your favorite feature(s) of the basket style for STUMP?
The Basket Hanger is stunning - it’s really eye-catching but it's also simply stated. I love plant hangers but I find this one to be my personal favorite because it's just very unique looking compared to traditional hangers. It’s made with strong eco-friendly bamboo hoops so not only is it beautiful but it’s a sturdy home for most plants!
