Joanna Birkner is a potter making ceramic jewelry, décor and functional tableware in west Philadelphia. With a background in history, she draws inspiration from late 19th and early 20th century material culture, as well as from her time living and working abroad. Joanna’s latest pots are primarily wood-fired, a labor intensive process that produces some of the most unique, unpredictable and beautiful effects in pottery.
